Advanced Threat Protection

The Basics of Advanced Threat Protection

Rather than delivering mail directly to your domain, this sends incoming emails to the Advanced Threat Protection system that checks the email first – then sends the “safe” mails to your mailbox and quarantines anything that may not be safe.

 Quarantine

This system quarantines emails that may have issues – viruses, malware, suspicious links, etc.

Each day you will receive 1 or more notices that list all the emails sent to you that have been quarantined.  Click to View or Release an email at any time. It will immediately appear in your inbox.

Your Spam Admin will also receive a notification and can set that email to permanently be allowed.

NOTE: You can not release emails that have malware or viruses.

Receiving the Email

Releasing the Message

If you see a message in here that you want to receive, click View.  This opens a web page where you can see the message and release it to your inbox.

This will also notify your administrator and they will either permanently release it or permanently block it.

The example below shows a bit of "code" at the top and then the email.  Sometimes there's a LOT of code.  If you want to release it, click the green RELEASE button. It will appear in your inbox in a few minutes.

 Filters

All users have the ability to manage their on blocked list.  Spam Admins have the ability to manage the domain block list.  In order to manage your own filters, you have to create a login at cp.appriver.com

All clickable links that appear in email are “wrapped” in a Link Protection.  When you click a link in the email, that link will be scanned before you’re taken to that page.

·         If it’s a legitimate link you’ll see a “flash” in the URL bar that says link.edgepilot.com, then you’ll be taken to the page with the link.

·         If the link is questionable, you’ll be warned that there could be malicious activity.

NOTE: You will see a warning like this at the bottom of any emails that contain links:

Links contained in this email have been replaced. If you click on a link in the email above, the link will be analyzed for known threats. If a known threat is found, you will not be able to proceed to the destination. If suspicious content is detected, you will see a warning.
